About VBS
Vacation Bible School is a fun time for children to come to church to learn God's Word during
their Summer Vacation.
Our VBS program runs for one week; Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - Noon. Then on the following
Sunday evening starting at 6 p.m., we have a Closing Program for the parents and everyone
After the Closing Program there is usually an Ice Cream or Pizza Fellowship for everyone.
The classes available during VBS are Kindergarten - 12th Grade and even an Adult Class.
Every year we format our VBS program according to what RBP has for their curriculum
theme. Also every year we vote on who to give the children's donations of pennies. The
children have fun collecting pennies to put into the collection buckets; one for the boys and
one for the girls. Not only are they raising money to help someone, they are also trying to see
who can get the most pennies in weight for the day. The winners of the most pennies in
weight win a piece of candy at the end of the day.
We start each day with an opening assembly. Our Director introduces the theme character
and puppets, sometimes a puppet theme mascot.
Then the children are dismissed to do what is scheduled for their class. At the end, we
have a closing assembly where the children go over what they learned that day in VBS.
There is Bible Class time, Game time, Craft time, Store time and a Snack time (snack and
drink provided).
The children get points (VBS bucks) for: bringing their Bible, bringing a Visitor, reciting a
Memory Verse and Attendance. The VBS Store contains different prizes for the children to
purchase. Their points also go toward determining who is the King and Queen each day and
the over all King and Queen for the week.
